The Pathway to Independence

Silver Lining

From age 16 into adulthood we provide a wide variety of pathways to independence and employment, the details of which are specifically tailored to the realistic ambitions and needs of the young person and have a clear focus on preparing students with SEN for independent work. This involves identifying the skills that employers value and helping young people to develop them, identifying the talents and interests of the young person and matching these to appropriate work placements – or creating new opportunities to meet these needs!

Silver Lining offers young people a realistic opportunity to meet their potential and to become independent.
The success of this programme is based on recruiting young people who want to work, finding their interests and skills - building a positive profile to inspire them to be ambitious. Individual placements, educational courses, training and support are prepared as a bespoke package to give them the best opportunity to succeed - whilst being clear about the aim of the package and the commitment required.
We provide a supported introduction to work experience for those who struggle with transitions, this can then lead on to further work experience when they are ready. The level of public engagement can be tailored and increased as confidence builds. Our approach is to make the experience fun and secure for young people to build their confidence and engage their enthusiasm.
At ‘Silver Lining’ we offer person-centered, holistic support through paid employment roles that improve social interaction, sensory, emotional sensitivity and  life-skills.
These packages are planned and carried out with the help of our team of specialists;
  • Job-coaching
  • Jobaide
  • Employment support
  • Vocational Profiling
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Life-skills support
  • Social activities
